The team to beat was CSM, as the Bulldogs earned a No. 7 seed in the state playoffs

The Bulldogs were able to dodge a bullet last week, only to get hit by another.

After an eighth-place finish in the 200 of the women’s heptathlon, the College of San Mateo’s Helena Silva wasn’t too thrilled with her performance.

Narcisse, a 6-foot-1, 316-pound center for the VooDoo who prepped at Sarah T. Reed, is spending his first season in the AFL learning a new game in the city where he grew up.

The No. 7 seed Bulldogs (34-14) will play at No. 3 Sierra-Rocklin (40-8) in a best-of-three super regional for the right to advance to the state championships at the Big League Dreams Sports Park in Chino Hills.

Outscored 4-2 on Sunday, College of San Mateo still managed to advance past the first round of the Northern California softball playoffs.

It wasn’t an elegant job, but the College of San Mateo softball team scored two runs without a solid hit in a 2-0 victory over Butte in the third game of the best-of-3 Northern California regional playoff series Sunday.

With the Coach of the Year, the Pitcher of the Year and the Player of the Year, it’s somewhat of a given that the College of San Mateo softball is one to watch.
