During his first tour, Capt. Justin Erickson came home with two U.S. flags flown during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He donated it to the College of San Mateo, which will raise the flag this morning during a presentation to honor veterans, active military and all service members and their families.

The Bulldogs were 5-0 entering NorCal Conference play last month, outscoring their five opponents 258-61. But since a 29-16 conference-opening victory over Santa Rosa on Oct. 16, CSM has been beaten by Foothill, City College of San Francisco and Butte.

The Bulldogs (1-3 NorCal Conference, 6-3 overall) have now lost three straight games, but unlike their previous contest against City College of San Francisco, in which San Mateo was shut out in a 33-0 defeat, much of what the Bulldogs were doing early in Saturday’s game did work.
