For the first time in school history, the College of San Mateo women’s aquatic team is a champion. Down 91 points to De Anza College at the start of the Coast Conference championships on Thursday, the Bulldog women erased that deficit, winning 11 of 18 events and capturing a total of 15 medals to win their first ever championship.

Sammy Pacheco went 3-for-3 and keyed a six-run fourth inning with a three-run home run to lead the College of San Mateo softball team earn a 14-8 victory over rival Foothill College. The CSM baseball team won its eight in a row and avenged a loss in last season’s state title game with a 2-0 win over visiting Ohlone.
