Steven Halcomb’s solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning lifted the Bend Elks to a 4-3 victory over the Walla Walla Sweets Sunday night in a West Coast League baseball game at Bend’s Vince Genna Stadium.

The Elks (5-2) are now 3-0 at home after their third straight win.

Halcomb, a shortstop from Gonzaga University, was two for four with one RBI on Sunday.

Elks starting pitcher Clay Bauer, of the College of San Mateo (Calif.), threw 5 2⁄3 innings, giving up just two hits and one earned run.

Bend took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a single from right fielder Parker Guinn.

Bo Walter, Shawn O’Brien and Taylor Ausbun all had two hits for the Elks. The red-hot Walter, of the College of San Mateo, leads Bend with a .462 batting average in five games.

The Elks (5-2) host Walla Walla again today at 12:30 p.m.
