It came down to one play. And that scenario in a football game can be just as fulfilling as it is heartbreaking — even in a whale of a game, one team has to lose and the other win, based on that one play. On Saturday, that play belonged to the Rams.

Volunteers from College of San Mateo caught images that assisted in determining the path of the meteor that exploded over the Bay Area on Wednesday.

It’s that time of the year for College of San Mateo. It’s time to face the top-ranked team in the state. It’s time to take a stand. Saturday at 1 p.m. the Bulldogs play at City College of San Francisco.

For the College of San Mateo women’s water polo team, the time has come to take care of business. And with three league games remaining on the regular season schedule the Bulldogs find themselves in a position of control — and that’s a great place to be.

Behind a defense that allowed only 107 yards of total offense, the Bulldogs began their 2012 NorCal Coast Conference schedule against Foothill College with a 37-3 win.

College of San Mateo women’s water polo coach Randy Wright has an uncanny knack for predicting how things will shake out in the Northern California water polo scene.

The Bulldogs, who have never beaten Merced, took on the Blue Devils at the West Valley tournament and fell 10-7 after playing a promising first half of water polo.

A look at the stat sheet from Saturday’s 29-28 loss to San Joaquin Delta College only tells part of the story for the College of San Mateo football team. The Bulldogs lost the turnover battle 3-1, they were out-gained 437 to 377 on offense and were out-scored 17-7 in a fourth quarter that saw them lead 21-12.
