One loss didn’t seem to bother the California Community College softball voters, who deemed College of San Mateo No. 1 in Northern California and No. 2 among the state’s 85 teams in this week’s official polls of the CCCFPCA.

CSM (10-1) was ranked third in NorCal and fifth in the state in the preseason poll and moved up in the first regular season rankings. Cypress College (2-0) remained No. 1 overall.

The Bulldogs opened the season with 10 consecutive wins before losing their first game on Tuesday, 3-2, at San Joaquin Delta, which scored a walkoff run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

CSM hosts the College of the Siskiyous in a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 1 p.m.
