The California Community Colleges Board of Governors named Cathie Browning, Kathy Chaika, Don Eckmann, Juan Patino and Rena Pheng as 2013 California Community Colleges Classified Employees of the Year.

The CSM Baseball team has a chance to finish in a first-place tie entering the final day of the Coast-Golden Gate Conference regular season on Thursday.

The Bulldogs have been ranked No. 1 in the state for most of the season and their players litter the statistical leaders as they’ve won back-to-back Coast Conference North titles.

In describing the upcoming Coast Conference swimming championship, College of San Mateo head coach Randy Wright said, “it’s going to be a dogfight.” Well, perhaps it’s a good thing he’s bringing a pack of Bulldogs to the meet.

The CSM team actually enters the contest up for the first time — that’s thanks in large part of the efforts of Jeremy Rodriguez at the Coast Conference diving championships. His performance in the 1 and 3-meter boards earned CSM 29 points.

Atherton resident Helen Hausman, a trustee of the San Mateo County Community College District for 23 years, plans to retire from the Board of Trustees on May 1.
