The College of San Mateo Baseball team has a chance to finish in  a first-place tie entering the final day of the Coast-Golden Gate Conference regular season on Thursday.

The Bulldogs put themselves in that position with their 4-1 victory over third-place Mission College on Tuesday.

CSM (15-6, 21-14) has one game remaining, at home, against Gavilian on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. The Bulldogs are a game back of Chabot (16-5, 23-12), which travels to Mission College on Thursday.

Chabot has beaten CSM three times on the season, but has lost twice to Mission.

Ryan O’Malley hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to put the Bulldogs ahead and Alex Palsha took it from there.

Palsha (6-4) threw an eight-hitter, walking one and striking out four in throwing the complete game.

Brandon DeFazio had two hits and drove in a run while Kailen Robinson also drove in a run.
