College of San Mateo softball went two-and-out in the state championship tournament, ending its season on a pair of losses to Mt. San Antonio and Santiago Canyon.

Scott Chiesa set a CSM record in the men’s javelin throw while Moreen Pahulu and Aaron Volkman won individual titles at Saturday’s Northern California Community College Track and Field Championships.

After blowing the lead in the top of the seventh, College of San Mateo used a four-run rally to advance past its Super Regional on Sunday with a 7-6 victory over San Joaquin Delta.

The CSM softball team steamrolled most of its opponents this season, so it was surprising to see them in a tight battle with San Joaquin Delta in the CCCAA Super Regionals.

Recently, CSM grad Glen A. Paul was sworn in as Federal Marshal for Delaware, making him the highest ranking law enforcement officer for the state.

The Lady Bulldogs homered four times in four innings to cruise past Yuba College 18-1 in the opening round of the California Community College regional playoffs Sunday at CSM.

It is the rare occasion when “heartbreaking” is a suitable descriptor on the baseball diamond. Saturday’s regional playoff finale was one of those occasions for the College of San Mateo.

College of San Mateo’s Kawei Tan, a Burlingame graduate, won a state championship in the 100 backstroke in Los Angeles Friday in a time of 49.86.

Ashlynne Neil and Raquel Martinez sat in the first-base dugout at College of San Mateo during last year’s state playoffs. But they weren’t wearing CSM uniforms. Both were members of the Feather River College team before transferring to CSM.
