California Community Colleges Chancellor Brice W. Harris issued a statement after the Assembly Higher Education Committee today passed SB 850 (Block), which would permit community colleges to offer baccalaureate degrees in limited circumstances

The three-day event held Friday through Sunday at CSM’s breathtaking mondo track marked the first time the event has ever been hosted in California.

Paralympian Jerome Singleton hails from Irmo, S.C., a small town northwest of Columbia. Singleton had never heard of San Mateo, which is hosting this weekend’s U.S. Paralympics Track and Field National Championships at the College of San Mateo.

There is a happy ending to what seemed like a difficult and painful story when we first reported it this past spring. You may remember the young man who chose to have his foot amputated because it caused him so much pain. We caught up with him Thursday at the College of San Mateo.

Taking place at the College of San Mateo on the Bay over three days from June 20 until June 22, the competition, the first to be held on the US west coast, will be a major target for top US stars in the absence of a World Championships in 2014.

There will be at least one familiar face at CSM when the school hosts the 2014 U.S. Paralympics Track and Field National Championships June 20-22. Gary Dilley has been a face of the Peninsula track and field scene for the better part of three decades.
