With CSM competing at the Los Positas Hawk Invite last Friday and Saturday, Tan made a splash with three first-place finishes. CSM earned four firsts overall with Tan topping the 18-team field in the men’s 100-yard backstroke with a time of 51.59 seconds, the 50 free with a 21.45 and in the 200 medley relay.

The baseball Bulldogs won their second straight game Saturday with a 15-5 victory at Sierra. With the win, CSM (5-4) now claims the best overall record in the Coast Golden Gate Conference. Isquirdo reached base six times in the game, going 5 for 5 with a walk while falling a home run short of the cycle.

The Bulldogs (11-0), ranked No. 2 in the state, made their intentions clear Sunday with a sweep of last year’s state finalists. First came a 2-0 victory over No. 3 Mt. Sac, the 2014 runner-up, followed by an 11-3 dismantling of No. 1-ranked Sierra, the defending champion, in a five-inning mercy-rule contest.

The Bulldogs (3-3) trailed by eight runs Saturday at Bulldog Field but started chipping away in the middle innings. Then a two-out rally in the bottom of the ninth saw CSM get the potential winning run on base.
