They will continue their historic pursuit in the playoffs this weekend. Despite being the state’s unanimous top-ranked team, CSM is the No. 2 seed in the NorCal bracket and will face 15th-seeded American River (20-17) in a best-of-three series beginning Saturday.

CSM closed its regular season with a 20-0 mercy-rule victory over visiting Foothill, though the rout served merely as a backdrop for the making of history. With the win, the 2015 Lady Bulldogs etched their name as the greatest team throughout a regulation season in program history, completing an undefeated run with a 35-0 record.

Several of the USA’s top all-around community college athletes will be competing at College of San Mateo on Tuesday and Wednesday (April 14-15) as the Bulldogs host the Northern California decathlon and heptathlon championships.

On Friday, February 20th, a special and long overdue award ceremony was held at CSM’s Hall of Fame Plaza to honor the late Kosei Kato, who was a CSM student in 1946–1947.

The top-ranked Bulldogs (33-0), seeking a trip to the state championships for a third year in a row, crossed an item off their checklist by earning a fourth straight Coast North Conference title over the weekend. CSM crushed City College of San Francisco to the tune of 31-0 in a mercy-rule shortened game at home in which Harlee Donovan regained the state lead with her 16th home run and Christy Peterson hit a grand slam.

Softball coach Nicole Borg insists a perfect season has not been a goal this season. And yet, with just two games left in the regular season, the state’s top-ranked team finds itself in such a position. The Bulldogs are coming off a 31-0 win over City College of San Francisco Tuesday to improve to 33-0 this season.

College of San Mateo baseball entered the weekend atop the conference standings, one game ahead of second-place De Anza-Cupertino and two games ahead of third-place Mission-Santa Clara. Taking a five-run lead into the eighth inning Saturday at Mission, the Bulldogs looked primed to maintain its outright first-place claim. But the Saints staged a late comeback to walk off with a much needed 7-6 victory.

While some students stress about which path they may take after high school, guidance counselors are busy reminding them that myriad paths to success remain even if they will not be attending their college or university of choice.
