It just wasn’t the Bulldogs’ day. Not only did No. 2-ranked College of San Mateo (3-1) suffer a huge upset with a 43-30 loss Saturday at unranked San Joaquin Delta (2-2). The Bulldogs were hardly even in the game.

Dru Brown and Joey Wood are a package deal. Dubbed the “Los Gatos boys” by their football coach at College of San Mateo, the true freshmen have been teammates since freshman year in high school.

CSM Water Polo wins 2 in a row at the West Valley Tournament, Cross Country improves on last years performances, and CSM Football places No.2.

The win marks the third straight to start the year for the No. 3-ranked Bulldogs (3-0), who totaled 578 yards offense against winless Butte (0-3). Freshman fullback Joey Wood broke out for the first big performance of his collegiate career, rushing for a game-high 145 yards on 17 carries and three touchdowns.

The Bulldogs won a blistering scoring showdown 51-41 over Modesto Saturday afternoon at College Heights Stadium, despite the Pirates outgaining CSM 446-276 in total offense.

Ariana Finato and Yareli Torres from CSM were selected to receive $1,000 from AIFS and $500 from SMCCCD Foundation Study Abroad Scholarship. As part of their scholarship, they will blog about their experiences in Barcelona on a weekly basis to be shared on the Study Abroad Program’s Facebook page.

College of San Mateo’s women’s water polo squad was dealt a 16-6 loss to San Joaquin Delta in Wednesday’s season opener. Host CSM was overmatched from the get-go, as Delta opened with eight consecutive goals before the Bulldogs finally got on the board midway through the second period.

College of San Mateo running back Isaiah Williams rushed for a game-high 126 yards and quarterback Dru Brown combined for 126 more as the Bulldogs cruised through College of the Siskiyous with a 35-6 in Saturday’s community college football season opener.

Experience on both sides of the line. New blood to its core at the skill positions. That’s the composition of the 2015 College of San Mateo Bulldogs football roster.

The preseason coaches poll lists the Bulldogs at No. 6, but it’s hard to put much credence in that. Pollack certainly doesn’t. That’s because anyone who voted likely hasn’t seen his roster, much like he’s barely aware of what Siskiyous will trot out for Week 1.
