The College of San Mateo Jazz Ensembles, directed by Mike Galisatus, will present a concert with guest artist drummer, Carl Allen on Wednesday, March 23 at 7:30 PM in the College of San Mateo Theatre.

Sophomore shortstop Ryan Krainz moved off the top of the batting order Thursday to slide into the No. 7 spot, and he found his stroke Saturday, going 3 for 5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Cleanup hitter Juan Gonzalez added a 2-for-5 day with a home run and four RBIs.

Smoot bounced back through the final two games of the series, going 3 for 7 with three RBIs as USF prevailed 5-2 on Saturday and 6-3 in Sunday’s rubber match. A junior transfer out of the College of San Mateo, Smoot took a redshirt at USF last season and got a late start this year, playing in nine of the Dons’ 22 games.

After posting a .330 career batting at CSM, Mastrobuoni entered weekend play leading the Mountain West Conference in batting average, while ranking 14th in nation among all NCAA Division-I hitters.

The Bulldogs (11-5 overall) trailed twice in the game, but continued to claw their way back. In the bottom of the 10th though, an errant pickoff throw proved costly as the Seahawks (10-8) scored the walk-off win.

The Lady Bulldogs (22-2 overall) rode the arms of pitchers Samantha Dean and Christy Peterson to earn their 50th consecutive home victory with a 2-0 win over Napa Valley College (0-11) Saturday at Bulldog Stadium.

Having won No. 49 in a row at Bulldog Stadium Tuesday against Hartnell, CSM looked to extend its home winning streak, dating back to the 2014 season, Thursday against Cabrillo. The game was postponed due to weather, however, and has been rescheduled for Sat., March 19 at noon.

A new program is buzzing around CSM, as the community college gained recognition as the first state school to join a national initiative aiming to preserve bee habitats. CSM was named as the third college in the nation, and the first in California, to join the Bee Campus USA program, under an announcement Monday, Feb. 29.

Nava batted .400 and was a two-time Junior College All-American in his two years at San Mateo, earning a scholarship to return to Santa Clara for his final year of eligibility.
