The Lady Bulldogs’ starting-pitching tandem of Samantha Dean and Morgan Jones closed out the regular season with back-to-back gems to help CSM (11-1 in Coast Conference, 36-3 overall) head into the playoffs with the best overall record in the state at 36-3.

Half Moon Bay High grad Harlee Donovan hit three home runs including a grand slam to help lift the Lady Bulldogs to 13-0, 9-0 victories against College of the Sequoia on Thursday. Donovan, a sophomore catcher, now has a state-leading 15 home runs for the season and 35 home runs in two years.

The College of San Mateo softball team still has seven games remaining in the regular season, but by virtue of its eight-inning, 12-9 win over rival Ohlone, the Bulldogs captured their fifth straight Coast Conference North title and the 10th conference title since 2000.

The Bulldogs rolled to a 9-5 victory, putting up four-spots in the fifth and sixth to take a 9-0 lead into the late innings. CCSF (0-9, 2-21-1) got on the board with a run in the eighth and scored four more in the ninth to make the game look a lot closer than it was.
