The College of San Mateo women’s water polo team took third place in the Coast Conference South Division finals, topping Laney College 14-9 in the third-place game last Friday.

Supriya Sharma paced the Lady Bulldogs with three goals, with Gabby Montoya, Mikayla Osorio and Elena McAdams scoring two apiece.

With the victory, CSM closes the season with an 8-11 overall record.

In the tournament opener, the Bulldogs were undone by a big Merced second half and endured an 8-4 loss, forcing them to the third-place game.

Merced led 3-2 at halftime, but exploded for five second-half goals. Alyssa Montserrat accounted for a majority of CSM’s scoring, netting three goals.

In the regular-season Coast Conference South standings, the Bulldogs took third place with a 4-6 record.
