Ranked No. 19 in the state in the first women’s volleyball poll of the season, College of San Mateo (6-2) brings a 3-game winning streak home on Wednesday (Sept. 11) against No. 22 Sierra College (4-2) at 2 p.m. That’s part of a doubleheader that begins at noon – with No. 29 Foothill (2-3) playing Sierra.

The Lady Bulldogs, coached by Katie Goldhahn, are off to a solid start. They extended state top-ranked Feather River in the opener at last weekend’s 16-team San Joaquin Delta College tournament in Stockton before taking care of their next three foes. Tourney champ Feather River (8-0) won the first set, 25-21, but was extended before taking the second set, 27-25, and then the match finale, 25-11. CSM then took beat Taft, 3-1; No. 27 Santa Rosa, 3-2; and No. 25 Butte, 3-0.

San Mateo’s only other season loss came in the season opener in five sets against No. 14 De Anza. The Bulldogs won the first two sets but couldn’t put the Dons away in a marathon that went 24-26, 27-29, 25-22, 25-23, and ended 16-14 for the Dons.
