Closure

PG&E has notified the District of planned power outages that impact College of San Mateo, Skyline College and the District office beginning tomorrow, Saturday, October 26, 2019. In anticipation of these outages, the College of San Mateo, Skyline College and the District office will suspend operations and close all college and District facilities effective at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2019. This suspension of operations will continue until 12 a.m. (midnight) on Sunday, October 27, 2019. Depending upon the duration of the PG&E power outage, the District may extend or cancel this halt of operations. Decisions about further closures will be made and announced by 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 27.

Impact

PG&E has indicated that College of San Mateo, Skyline College and the District office will be impacted during this round of outages. At this point, Cañada College is not scheduled to be impacted. The District has no control over this issue, and outages are subject to change by PG&E.

The closure of College of San Mateo, Skyline College and the District office applies to all functions, including classes, activities, events, games, performances, SMAC, construction activities and any hosted functions. During this closure, no employees, students or members of the community will be permitted to be on the campuses, except for those employees who are required to report to work, as they are essential for emergency operations.

Tasks for Today

Faculty and staff are asked to complete the following tasks prior to leaving work today:

  • Shut down all computers, monitors and televisions
  • Power down any additional devices that can be powered down
  • Clear out personal refrigerators
