For the first time in program history, the College of San Mateo women’s volleyball team is headed to the state championships. On Saturday night, the No. 4-seeded Bulldogs defeated No. 12 Cabrillo College 3-1 (25-17, 25-18; 24-26, 25-14) at home in the third round of the Northern California Regional Playoffs to secure their spot in the 2022 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships.

CSM won its last three games of the season to garner the No. 1 seed in the California Community College Athletic Association Nor Cal regional playoffs. Saturday, the train kept rolling. Hosting No. 4 Modesto at College Heights Stadium, the Bulldogs put on a dominating performance on both sides of the ball as they rolled to a 30-0 win over the Pirates.

The College of San Mateo Men’s Basketball Winter Youth Camp makes its return in 2022. The four-day camp offered for boys and girls ages 8-12 is set to begin on Dec. 26 at the CSM Building 8 Gymnasium.

College of San Mateo, ranked No. 3 in the state, clinched the 2022 title with Friday night’s 3-0 sweep at Ohlone College in Fremont. That boosted the Bulldogs perfect league record to 9-0 with just one match remaining.

Bulldogs quarterback Richie Watts was 16-of-18 passing for 269 yards and threw six touchdowns, as College of San Mateo traveled to Stockton to take down San Joaquin Delta for a 44-0 victory.

No. 4 College of San Mateo (7-1) has Northern California’s best overall National record but is in a 4-way Bay 6 League deadlock at 2-1 with No. 7 Laney (6-2), No. 12 San Francisco (5-3), and No. 13 Diablo Valley (5-3). DVC is at Laney Friday night. CSM closes at CCSF Nov. 12.

The College of San Mateo Bulldogs were coming off their first stumble of the season, a disheartening loss to Diablo Valley that saw a potential game-winning field goal miss wide in the closing seconds. But the Bulldogs — in their final regular-season home game of 2022 — bounced back big time, rallying for their highest point total of the year Saturday at College Heights Stadium with a 63-7 lambasting of Chabot.
