On Wednesday, February 15, 2023, College of San Mateo welcomed Dr. Lerone Martin, the Martin Luther King Jr. Research and Education Institute Director at Stanford University, for a keynote speech. The lecture was held as part of a series of events that celebrate Black History Month on CSM’s campus.

Skyline College and College of San Mateo are sending both their women’s and men’s basketball teams to the California Community College Athletic Association state playoffs, with regional play beginning Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.

JD Carson scored 13 points, including the eventual winning points on a 3-pointer from the top of the key with 2:55 left in the game, as College of San Mateo closed out regular season Coast North men’s basketball play with a 66-61 victory at Cañada College in Redwood City Friday night.

Although the weather was indeed poor, a pair of College of San Mateo women sports teams ran past their opposition on Saturday. The CSM women’s softball team recorded a pair of mercy victories in the rain, by a combined score of 26-1.

College of San Mateo baseball (4-0) won its fourth straight to start the year, and sophomore pitcher Noel Valdez picked up his first victory as the Bulldogs rolled to a 5-3 final Saturday at Merced College.

The afternoon of Friday, January 27, 2023, was full of buzz and excitement on the College of San Mateo campus during the College’s inaugural Back to School Block Party! Over 50 academic programs, student services, and community organizations had tables at the event in front of College Center to share information and engage with nearly 500 attendees.

With returning state women’s athlete of the year Lafu Malepeai leading the way, College of San Mateo’s defending state champion women’s softball team opened the 2023 season ranked No. 1 in the state preseason coach poll, released Friday.
