Before CSM’s fall semester kicked off for students, CSM’s Vice President of Instruction Office welcomed seven new full-time faculty members during the New Faculty Orientation and Luncheon. This event facilitated interactions with VPI Dr. Carla Grandy, department mentors, and student services. The event was capped off with a lunch and a view as we gathered with cabinet members, deans, and division assistants in the College Heights Conference Room. Interim Chancellor Dr. Melissa Moreno, Acting President Richard Storti, and Board Trustee Wayne Lee warmly greeted the community as we all look forward to a new academic year together.
Representing diverse instructional fields, the new faculty promise valuable contributions to CSM’s academic fabric. Kajari Burns, in the Kinesiology, Athletics & Dance, will be the college’s new track and field coach. Andres Calle, in the Business and Technology Division, will be CSM’s newest Computer & Information Science professor. Carissa Cardenas, in the Counseling Division, will be focusing on Dual Enrollment & High School Transition. Mark Hollandsworth will be joining CSM’s Nursing Program, Melissa Nelson will be the newest Accounting Program professor, Lia Thomas, in the Academic Support & Learning Technologies, is the college’s newest librarian, and Katryn Wiese, in the Math and Science Division, will be the college’s Geology professor.
This new cohort of educators stands as a testament to CSM’s proactive approach to embracing change, adapting to evolving pedagogical paradigms, and cultivating an atmosphere of collaboration. The infusion of talent invigorates CSM’s journey toward a vibrant academic chapter, inspiring both educators and learners.
