Ground-rule doubles can be fickle beasts. College of San Mateo found that out the hard way Friday on day two of the California Community College Athletic Association championship tournament. The Lady Bulldogs were eliminated from the tournament at West Valley College in Saratoga with two losses Friday.

College of San Mateo is headed to a 10th consecutive 3C2A state softball finals tournament May 16-19 at West Valley College in Saratoga. The Lady Bulldogs (38-5) rolled past longtime rival Ohlone College, 8-1 and 8-0 (6 innings), in the Mother’s Day weekend Super Regional tournament at their home Tom Martinez softball complex.

The College of San Mateo softball team is headed back to a very familiar place. Thanks to a two-game sweep of No. 10-seed Ohlone College in the Northern California Playoffs Super Regional, second-seeded CSM is headed back to the 3C2A State Championships for the 10th consecutive season. The Bulldogs opened the series on Friday with an 8-1 victory and closed it out with an 8-0 mercy-rule win in six innings on Saturday.
