On August 8, 2024, College of San Mateo hosted the second annual Black Business Summit, a significant event celebrating and showcasing the vibrant community of Bay Area Black-owned businesses. This impactful gathering was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the San Mateo County Small Business Development Center (SMSBDC), the Renaissance Entrepreneur Center, the Strategic Initiatives and Economic Development Department, and the Umoja learning community at CSM.

Before the start of the fall semester, College of San Mateo hosted its annual New Faculty Orientation. This year’s event welcomed seven recently hired full-time permanent and full-time temporary faculty members and gave them a comprehensive introduction to the College and its vibrant community.

Before the start of the fall semester, College of San Mateo (CSM) held its annual Bulldog Welcome Day, welcoming over 300 new students to campus. The event, organized by the Center for Student Life and Counseling Services, helped new students begin their academic journey with essential information and support.

SamTrans is introducing a new bus route that will benefit College of San Mateo (CSM) students beginning this Fall 2024 semester. Launched in August 2024, Route CSM will connect the downtown San Mateo Caltrain Station with CSM, offering reliable service every 30 minutes on weekdays and every hour on weekends.

When defensive end Noah Lavulo transferred from College of San Mateo to San Jose State in 2022, Bulldogs head coach Tim Tulloch had one ask of the Burlingame native. “Represent our program so well that they want to come back and sign two more (players),” Tulloch said.

The USA women’s water polo team will try to maintain its streak of medaling in every Olympic tournament when it plays Netherlands in the bronze medal match Saturday morning (1:35 a.m. PDT) at La Defense Arena in Paris.

College of San Mateo is proud to announce that its Active Minds Chapter has been awarded the Chapter of the Year Award at the 2024 Active Minds Conference in Washington, D.C. This significant recognition is a testament to the chapter’s dedication and innovative approach to mental health advocacy on campus.

When former College of San Mateo All-Conference wide receiver James Johnson returned to campus last year as a facility manager at the College of San Mateo Athletic Center, he was quick to find a way to give back.

A former College of San Mateo basketball standout is taking his talents back home to play professionally. Sam Manu, a first-team All-Coast Conference North Division selection for the Bulldogs during the 2021-22 season, was recently the No. 1 pick in the 2024 Taiwan Professional Basketball League (TPBL) Draft. Manu is headed back to his home country to play for the Taipei Taishin Mars in Taipei City.
