SamTrans is introducing a new bus route that will benefit College of San Mateo (CSM) students beginning this Fall 2024 semester. Route CSM promises to enhance accessibility and convenience for those commuting to campus. Operated by SamTrans, Route CSM is part of the broader Reimagine SamTrans initiative, designed to improve public transportation services across San Mateo County.

Launched in August 2024, Route CSM will connect the downtown San Mateo Caltrain Station with CSM, offering reliable service every 30 minutes on weekdays and every hour on weekends. This new route is a significant step in providing students with seamless transit options, ensuring they can reach campus easily and on time.

In addition to the new Route CSM, the existing Route 250 continues to serve the college community with even more frequent service during peak periods. Route 250 travels along West Hillsdale Blvd, providing direct access to CSM and the route ending at North San Mateo Drive in downtown San Mateo. During peak weekday hours, buses will operate every 15 minutes, making it easier for students to plan their commutes.

In addition, to further support our students, CSM offers a free shuttle service that complements the SamTrans routes, with hourly pick-ups and drop-offs between the Millbrae BART/Caltrain Station and CSM. The CSM Shuttle is available to all students, providing an additional transportation option to help them navigate their way to and from campus. Students can visit the CSM Shuttle site for more details on the shuttle’s schedule and routes.

Dr. Manuel Alejandro Pérez, President of College of San Mateo, expressed his enthusiasm for these transportation enhancements, stating, “We are thrilled to see these improvements in transit options for our students. Providing easier access to our campus is a critical part of our commitment to student success and equity, and these changes make it possible for more students to pursue their educational goals.”

The introduction of Route CSM and the improvements to Route 250 are key components of the Reimagine SamTrans initiative, which aims to optimize the transit network to better serve the community. SamTrans has been working to refine and expand its services, ensuring that residents of San Mateo County have access to efficient and reliable public transportation.

These developments highlight the ongoing collaboration between CSM and SamTrans to address transportation inequities and support student access to higher education. As the fall semester approaches, students are encouraged to take advantage of these new and improved transit options making their commute to CSM as smooth as possible.
