Freshman cornerback Phoenix Rose has quite a history with his teammates in the College of San Mateo secondary. Rose (Whitney-Rocklin), and sophomores RJ Whitten (Folsom) and Kyle Hall (Rocklin) all played against one another in high school in the Sac-Joaquin Section’s Sierra Foothill League. And Rose and sophomore cornerback Trevon Watson (Antelope) are former teammates with the prestigious Sacramento 7-on-7 program DB Select.

The stage is set for the Bay 6 Conference football opener. Paced by a career day from sophomore running back Malakhi DeMoss, College of San Mateo used 17 unanswered third-quarter points to claim a 23-14 victory on a sweltering Saturday night at Fresno City College.
