Professor of physics and astronomy Darryl Stanford uses the planetarium at the College of San Mateo to show what can be seen in the skies and to teach about the beauty of the heavens.

College of San Mateo (CSM) has earned Initial Accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) for its Associate Degree Nursing program—making CSM one of only three ACEN-accredited associate nursing programs in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The College of San Mateo women’s volleyball team is headed back to the postseason for the seven straight season. On Tuesday, the Bulldogs were named the No. 6 seed for the upcoming Northern California Regional Playoffs. Postseason brackets were announced by the 3C2A for the both the north and south regions.

Ericka Dorn, with Coast Conference and Northern California individual cross country titles in hand, heads to the 3C2A state finals at 10 a.m. Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno.

No. 3 state-ranked College of San Mateo secured a share of the National Bay 6 League championship with a commanding 52-20 victory over Laney College in its regular-season finale at home on Saturday. It marked the Bulldogs’ fourth straight Bay 6 League title and eighth over the past nine seasons under head coach Tim Tulloch.

Thanks to Diablo Valley College finishing off the regular season with a 34-21 victory over City College of San Francisco, the College of San Mateo Bulldogs are co-Bay 6 Conference football champions.

Golden West College has taken a slight lead over Ventura College in this week’s JC Athletic Bureau poll for the California Community College Football Coaches Association as teams enter the regular-season finale.
