Another postseason run begins this week for the College of San Mateo softball team as the top-ranked Bulldogs look to go back-to-back and defend their 2025 state title. CSM is the No. 1 seed for the 2026 Northern California Regional Playoffs and the Bulldogs will host No. 16 Lassen College in a best-of-three-game series beginning at 2 p.m. Friday. Game 2 is set for noon Saturday, with a third game, if necessary, to start at 2 p.m.

Ericka Dorn was an overwhelming double Coast Conference track champion in the 800 and 1,500 meters Saturday at Monterey Peninsula College, completing a perfect individual career double-double.

The community college district has broken ground on its student housing development at College of San Mateo, with educators and community leaders celebrating the historic project that will house 316 students in coming years. 

College of San Mateo (13-7 Coast North, 25-14 overall) settled for third place in the Coast Conference North baseball standings, but finished the regular season with a statement comeback win over Cañada (8-11, 16-22) on the Hilltop.

The missing title has been secured. After compiling unmatched streaks over the past full year, the College of San Mateo softball team has secured the one championship it did not obtain in 2025. Thursday’s 7-2 win over visiting Monterey Peninsula College gave the Bulldogs the outright 2026 Coast Conference championship.

The College of San Mateo Bulldogs got back to doing what they do best — winning. After seeing their 48-game winning streak snapped Tuesday with a 2-1 loss to Hartnell, the Bulldogs (10-1 Coast Conference, 33-1 overall) started another win streak Thursday with a 10-0 victory at San Jose City College (5-6, 12-31-1).

College of San Mateo went over a year without losing a game. But all good things must come to an end. The Bulldogs (9-1 Coast North, 32-1 overall) had their 48-game softball winning streak snapped Tuesday with a 2-1 loss at Hartnell College (7-3, 27-8) in Salinas.

Ericka Dorn broke a pair of College of San Mateo records at San Francisco State’s Mike Fanelli Track Classic over the weekend. The sophomore out of Westmoor High School took nearly two seconds off her own Bulldogs mark in the 800 meters on Saturday, running 2:14.98 seconds, the best community college time in Northern California this season and No. 2 in the state. She set the former mark of 2:16.27 last year. 

A program through the San Mateo County Community College District is leading students affected by the juvenile justice system into higher education, an over-decade model for interrupting the school-to-prison pipeline throughout the state.

Nia Mapa blasted a two-run homer to give College of San Mateo a 12-4 mercy-rule, softball victory in five innings over rival West Valley College Thursday to all but wrap up another Coast Conference title.
