The 2025–2026 academic year was another remarkable chapter for CSM Athletics, with Bulldog scholar-athletes excelling in competition, in the classroom, and in the community.
Across the year, CSM teams delivered championship performances, postseason runs, individual state-level finishes, conference honors, academic recognitions, and meaningful service to the broader community. From football’s back-to-back state championship to softball’s historic 43-3 season and deep state tournament run, Bulldog Athletics continued to reflect the excellence, resilience, and competitive spirit that define College of San Mateo.
This year’s accomplishments also highlight the full scope of CSM’s scholar-athlete experience. Bulldogs earned Academic All-American honors, advanced to regional and state championships, represented the college on all-conference and all-state teams, and gave back through department-wide and team-based community service.
Baseball
CSM Baseball returned to the postseason in 2026, advancing to the 3C2A Northern California Regional Playoffs and competing in the Modesto Regional against Reedley College and Modesto Junior College. The Bulldogs continued to demonstrate the program’s competitive consistency while also earning strong academic recognition across the roster.

Beach Volleyball
CSM Beach Volleyball continued to build depth and competitive experience during the 2026 season, giving Bulldog scholar-athletes another opportunity to represent the college in spring competition. The program remains an important part of CSM’s women’s athletics offerings and provides a pathway for volleyball scholar-athletes to continue developing their skills across both indoor and beach formats.
Looking ahead, College of San Mateo is investing in the program’s future by constructing a new on-campus beach volleyball court. This facility will enhance training and competition opportunities for current student-athletes, strengthen recruiting efforts, and create new possibilities for instructional course offerings, further expanding student engagement and access to the sport.
Football
CSM Football delivered one of the defining achievements of the year, capturing the 2025 3C2A State Championship and completing a 12-1 season. The Bulldogs won their second consecutive state title and third championship in the last four seasons, further cementing CSM as the premier community college football program in California.
The Bulldogs also earned Co-Bay 6 honors and were recognized with Coaching Staff of the Year, while multiple scholar-athletes received first-team, honorable mention, and player-of-the-year recognition.

- In addition to its accomplishments on the field, CSM Football remained actively engaged in serving the local community throughout the 2026 season. Bulldog student-athletes volunteered at an East Palo Alto youth football clinic, read to elementary school students during Beresford Elementary School’s Literacy Week, and hosted a National Marrow Donor Program registration drive. Through these initiatives, the program continued to exemplify the values of service, leadership, and community connection.
Men’s Basketball
CSM Men’s Basketball advanced to the first round of the Northern California Regional Playoffs, facing West Valley College after a competitive season. The Bulldogs finished with an 18-12 overall record and continued to show growth in Coast Conference play, led by all-conference performers and strong defensive leadership.

Women’s Basketball
CSM Women’s Basketball made a postseason run to the second round of the Northern California Regional Playoffs, where the Bulldogs faced City College of San Francisco. Cross Country
CSM Cross Country had a standout year led by historic individual performances. Ericka Dorn placed fifth in the state, the top women’s cross country finish in CSM history. Deia Kerseg finished 19th in the state, ranking third in CSM history and earning Second Team All-American recognition. Lina Cruz Parada finished 24th in the state, the fifth-best finish in CSM history, while also recording the top freshman performance in program history and earning Second Team All-American recognition. On the men’s side, Colin Williams qualified for the state meet as a freshman.

CSM Softball continued its remarkable run as one of the top programs in California community college athletics. CSM Swimming had a strong championship season, with seven scholar-athletes qualifying for individual State Championship events and nine scholar-athletes qualifying for State Championship relays. The Bulldogs also earned multiple top-16 finishes on the men’s side, reflecting the program’s strength at the state level.

Track and Field
CSM Track and Field delivered an outstanding postseason, with Bulldog scholar-athletes earning Northern California titles, state medal finishes, and historic individual performances.
Ericka Dorn won three NorCal titles, taking first in the 1500 meters, 800 meters, and 5000 meters. Deia Kerseg-Foreman added a NorCal title in the 3000-meter steeplechase, while Lina Cruz Parada placed fourth in the NorCal 5000 meters and Evan Usher finished second in the NorCal discus throw.
At the State Championships, Usher placed second in the discus, Dorn finished fourth in the 1500 meters and sixth in both the 800 meters and 5000 meters, Kerseg placed fourth in the 3000-meter steeplechase, and Noah Gonzalez finished eighth in the long jump.

Community Impact
In addition to their success in competition and in the classroom, Bulldog scholar-athletes gave back through service. Across the Division, CSM Athletics participated in a December 2025 toy drive benefiting the Good Tidings Foundation. Baseball volunteered with the Miracle League of Redwood City, and Women’s Basketball served community partners including Samaritan House, Beresford Elementary School, and CSM’s Child Development Center.
Together, these accomplishments reflect a year of championship performance, academic achievement, and community engagement. The 2025–2026 year reaffirmed what Bulldog Athletics represents at College of San Mateo: excellence in competition, commitment in the classroom, and pride in serving the community.
