Professor Tatiana Irwin will deliver the keynote address for the San Mateo County Historical Association’s annual meeting on July 25. Irwin, who teaches history at College of San Mateo, will discuss how local stories help communities understand earlier generations, recognize present-day connections, and visualize better futures.

The CSM Physics Club team, competing as Artemis Prime, will travel to Houston, Texas, to participate in the NASA ORBIT Pitch Showcase at Space Center Houston from July 15–17. The team includes Tori Dryaba, Malia Smith, Shaila Lewis, Sean Fay, and Gabriel Valles, with support from Professor of Physics David Locke.

Governor Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 968 on June 29, 2026, permanently authorizing San Mateo County Community College District’s (SMCCCD) Free College initiative and removing its scheduled 2028 sunset date. The bill was authored by State Senator Josh Becker and coauthored by Assemblymembers Diane Papan and Marc Berman.
