CSM Baseball Statistician Mike Brusin

CSM Baseball Statistician Mike Brusin

The Bulldogs are sorry to report, long time CSM Baseball statistician Mike Brusin passed away July 7th at his home in San Mateo. Fondly referred to as “Brusin”, Mike donated his time and service to Bulldog Baseball for nearly forty years. He rarely missed a game, home or away, until recently when health issues slowed him down.

Surprisingly, it was not until about 10 years ago that California Community Colleges made the transition to a comprehensive electronic format to collect and merge statistics. Prior to that, it was largely collected and input by hand. Mike was incredibly precise and accurate in this regard. Coach Doug Williams noted, “the help Mike provided in this area was immeasurable. Mike’s service was more than just scorekeeping. His statistical records can be directly linked to numerous CSM baseball records, as well as All-Conference, All-State and California Community College All-American awards. In addition, Mike’s statistics provided valuable information for four-year schools, which directly translated to countless athletic scholarships. We are forever indebted to Mike…frankly, I don’t know how we would have done it without him”

We will miss his passion for baseball and his wonderful sarcastic wit…and we will never forget his commitment to so many generations of Bulldogs.
