The Aspen Institute College Excellence Program announced on August 22 that College of San Mateo’s College President, Dr. Jennifer Taylor-Mendoza, is one of 26 leaders selected for the 2022-23 class of the Aspen New Presidents Fellowship.

The Bulldogs are sorry to report, long time CSM Baseball statistician Mike Brusin passed away July 7th at his home in San Mateo.  Fondly referred to as “Brusin”, Mike donated his time and service to Bulldog Baseball for nearly forty years.

College of San Mateo was one of a select number of California community colleges to be honored in the inaugural 2022 Excellence in Placement Awards, hosted by The Campaign for College Opportunity.

College of San Mateo is proud to announce a new partnership with Menlo College in the form of a 2+2 transfer pathway agreement for business students at CSM. CSM students are now guaranteed admittance to Menlo College upon completing an AS-T/AS Degree in Business Administration, Business Analytics, or International Business. Additionally, the transfer admittance is accompanied by a guaranteed transfer scholarship of $15,000 per academic year and a 50% reduced tuition during the summer terms. This financial support incentive is exclusive to CSM graduates.

A program webpage and registration form are available, allowing interested students to review program details and sign up. Those who are approved to access the new service are eligible for 40 monthly Lyft rides between CSM and 10 different designated locations throughout Half Moon Bay, El Granada, Moss Beach, and Montara.

All hands are on deck to plan and implement College of San Mateo’s Centennial Celebration. Four committees have been working hard to plan and coordinate various components of the year-long series of events starting with the Centennial Gala on March 31, 2022, the day that CSM began operations 100 years ago.

Religious protections for San Mateo County Community College District students who are subject to a vaccine mandate will remain in place after district officials sided with arguments that stripping the exemption from students but not faculty would be unfair and discriminatory.

At its meeting yesterday, the San Mateo County Community College District Board of Trustees adopted Juneteenth National Independence Day as a District-recognized holiday.  Juneteenth recognizes the end of slavery in the United States.Tthe District, including Cañada College, College of San Mateo, and Skyline College, will be closed and there will be no classes on Monday, June 28, 2021. 

San Mateo County Community College District Chancellor Michael Claire announced that he will recommend  Dr. Jennifer Taylor-Mendoza to the District’s Board of Trustees as the next president of College of San Mateo. The Board of Trustees will take formal action on Dr. Taylor-Mendoza’s appointment at their meeting on April 28.
