Assistant Professor of Art Rebecca Alex has developed partnerships between the CSM and four arts organizations: Peninsula Museum of Art, City Arts of San Mateo, Peninsula Arts Council and Manor House.

CSM Electronic Music student Luis Leonorellana was part of the creative team that created “O’KANE 1.0” which won Best Film in the 2012 San Jose 48HFP Film Festival. Luis is responsible for all of the recording, original music and sound effects.

It was during his time at the College of San Mateo that he began to focus on a career as an artist, said Hararah. The sole artist in his family, Hararah went against his traditional parents’ ideal profession for their son.

An artist’s reception on Saturday from 2-4 pm celebrates the group photography exhibit “From Mind to Lens” at Avenue 25 Gallery in San Mateo. The show is on view through March 2.

Artist Mohsen Janatpour strives to give metaphorical content the dominant role in his paintings. A broad selection of his works is on exhibit through the end of August in the City Arts Gallery space in the Peninsula Ballet Theatre’s arts center in San Mateo.

For four women – two Coastsiders and two Peninsula residents – an adult class in mosaic-making allowed them to piece together life lessons in the form of art for La Honda Elementary School students.

CSM artists installed a colorful mosaic on the exterior of Samaritan House’s new headquarters on Pacific Boulevard. On Tuesday afternoon, the nonprofit thanked the gold-hearted artists with a gold-colored plaque placed just below the mural.

On Saturday, March 20, the Ethnic Studies Department will present an Asian Pacific American Film Festival in the Theatre.

A sparkling new mosaic mural, “Reflect, Rejoice, Renew,” designed and created by students in CSM’s Mosaic Mural class now greets visitors at the new Samaritan House building.

Richard Lohmann’s photographs, which explore maritime themes, will be on view through November 6 at Avenue 25 Gallery in San Mateo.
