A stunning doubleheader sweep of College of San Mateo — the No. 1 ranked team in Northern California — ended the Bulldogs’ season Saturday. No. 17 Los Medanos (27-16 overall) rebounded from Friday’s 18-0 walloping at the hands of CSM to score back-to-back victories of 3-1 and 5-4 Saturday at Bulldog Stadium, helped by five CSM errors on the day, to win the best-of-three series.

To continue terrorizing pitchers at the next level, Angelo Bortolin simply needed to drive one exit up Highway 92. The freshman slugger at College of San Mateo nearly led the state in RBI during the regular season, but the 19-year-old doesn’t mind finishing as the runner-up.

CSM (14-1 in Coast Golden Gate, 29-5 overall) continued to play like a team on a mission Saturday at Bulldog Stadium, claiming their 10th straight victory with an 11-2 rout of visiting De Anza.

The Bulldogs picked up their 10th straight with an 11-2 victory over De Anza Saturday at Bulldog Stadium in Jared Milch’s first start in three weeks. The freshman left-hander out of Terra Nova got the win streak rolling in his previous start March 25 against City College of San Francisco, firing seven innings of two-hit ball to pick up the win in a 9-0 victory.

In his third season playing for Dodgers Triple-A affiliate Oklahoma City, O’Koyea Dickson is off to as hot a start as anyone in affiliated Minor League Baseball. Through OKC’s first three games, Dickson is 10 for 14 with three home runs. His 10 hits currently pace not just the Pacific Coast League, but all the minor leagues.

The College of San Mateo baseball starting rotation has grown into a sophomore-heavy staff this season. The exception to this as of late has been freshman left-hander Jared Milch.

The Cincinnati Reds chose newcomer Scott Feldman to start on opening day against the Philadelphia Phillies. It’ll be the third opening day start for the 33-year-old Feldman. The right-hander also opened seasons for Texas in 2010 and Houston in 2014.

College of San Mateo (3-0 in Coast Golden Gate, 15-4 overall) has a wealth of Serra graduates on its 2017 baseball roster. And at the top of the class is slugger Angelo Bortolin, a left-handed hitting third baseman who, in three varsity seasons with the Padres, forged a career as something of a high school version of George Brett.

College of San Mateo Baseball suffered back-to-back losses, each by the same score of 8-4, Saturday and Sunday at Cosumnes River College to be eliminated in the Northern California baseball regional playoffs.

CSM’s Greenough fires three-hit gem. Cameron Greenough made his first collegiate complete game a good one, firing a three-hit shutout Tuesday in a 5-0 win over City College of San Francisco at Bulldog Stadium.
