This year the event not only showcases the breadth and depth of the Bay Area scene, it’s also a celebration of the college’s 50th anniversary, complete with public tours of the campus.

After a nine-year hiatus, the popular day-long jazz celebration will return to the home of the area’s only jazz radio station, KCSM 91.1 FM, on the campus of College of San Mateo.

On April 14, singer and performer Pamela Rose will present her acclaimed show, “Wild Women of Song: Great Gal Composers of the Jazz Era,” in a benefit concert for KCSM-FM.

The competition was open to all high school students in the Bay Area. Bay Area viewers will have the opportunity to watch the student productions, as part of the Youth Cinema public television series to air on KCSM this fall.

It’s been a season of love thus far for San Francisco Giants broadcaster Jon Miller, who will be inducted into the broadcasters’ wing of the Baseball Hall of Fame later this week.

High School filmmakers will be honored at KCSM’s 4th Annual Spotlight! High School Filmmaking Competition Awards Night to be held on May 2 in CSM’s Theatre.

Efforts to keep KCSM on television fell $100,000 short of the $1 million effort, but that didn’t stop the San Mateo County Community College District Board from approving the station for another year.
