College of San Mateo has claimed the San Mateo County baseball championship with a sweep of the only Coast Conference meetings with district rivals Skyline and Cañada.

CSM came from behind to win Monday’s make-up game, which was moved to CSM (with Cañada the home team), 8-1, banging out 12 hits and allowing one hit / no earned runs. San Mateo shutout Skyline, 5-0, last week (March 15) in San Bruno.

The Bulldogs, state runners-up last year, share first place in the Coast Golden Gate with Chabot at 6-1.

CSM HAS STATE LEADERS:

CSM sophomore Devin Bradley (out of Carlmont) lowered his season earned run average to 0.52 to rank second in the state – behind “perfect” teammate Josh Fredendall (Hillsdale) – who leads all of the state’s 87 teams with a 0.00 mark.

Soph Griffin Kirsh (from Reno High) leads the state with a perfect 14 for 14 stolen base percentage and is tied for fourth in total stolen bases (along with teammate Justin Maffei.out of Serra).

Maffei (.359) and Kirsh (.329) are among seven Bulldogs batting over .300. Others are Anthony Feliciano (Lane Tech) at .375, Chris Killeen (Campolinda) at .361, Michael Kathan (Campolinda) .345, Shawn Walters (Reno) at .310, and Cody Zimmerman (Newark Memorial) at .308.

Next games:

CSM will be on the road the remainder of the week: at Hartnell Tuesday, at Coast Pacific leader Cabrillo Thursday, and at Mission on Friday – before returning home to host West Valley next Tuesday.
