The CSM Physics Club team, competing as Artemis Prime, will travel to Houston, Texas, to participate in the NASA ORBIT Pitch Showcase at Space Center Houston from July 15–17. The team includes Tori Dryaba, Malia Smith, Shaila Lewis, Sean Fay, and Gabriel Valles, with support from Professor of Physics David Locke.

College of San Mateo celebrated the Class of 2026 on Friday during its 104th Commencement Ceremony, honoring more than 400 graduates who crossed the stage before family, friends, faculty, staff, and the broader campus community.

College of San Mateo students and faculty earned major recognition earlier this month at the 16th Annual Community College Honors Research Symposium hosted at Stanford University, showcasing the strength of CSM’s Honors Project learning community and its growing reputation for undergraduate research, interdisciplinary scholarship, and transfer preparation.

College of San Mateo celebrated its 103rd Commencement Ceremony at the historic College Heights Stadium, where families, faculty, staff, and community members gathered to honor the achievements of the Class of 2025. Under a sunny sky full of cheers, 1,282 degrees and certificates were awarded to 928 graduates, ranging in age from 16 to 80—‌a powerful reminder of the transformative and lifelong nature of education.

The San Mateo County Community College District (SMCCCD) will hold its board meeting on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 6 p.m. in the Jefferson Unified School District Boardroom in Daly City, CA. Following the successful model of the October 23, 2024, meeting held in East Palo Alto, the meeting location was chosen to further enhance engagement with residents of North San Mateo County. Community members can attend either in person or virtually to learn about SMCCCD’s enhanced educational pathways and opportunities available for local residents. 

The Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) program at College of San Mateo (CSM) recently brought students to the 2024 National Diversity in STEM (NDiSTEM) Conference hosted by the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) in Phoenix, Arizona.

College of San Mateo will host Family Science Day this Saturday, Sept. 28, from 1 am – 11 p.m.

On August 8, 2024, College of San Mateo hosted the second annual Black Business Summit, a significant event celebrating and showcasing the vibrant community of Bay Area Black-owned businesses. This impactful gathering was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the San Mateo County Small Business Development Center (SMSBDC), the Renaissance Entrepreneur Center, the Strategic Initiatives and Economic Development Department, and the Umoja learning community at CSM.

Before the start of the fall semester, College of San Mateo (CSM) held its annual Bulldog Welcome Day, welcoming over 300 new students to campus. The event, organized by the Center for Student Life and Counseling Services, helped new students begin their academic journey with essential information and support.

When former College of San Mateo All-Conference wide receiver James Johnson returned to campus last year as a facility manager at the College of San Mateo Athletic Center, he was quick to find a way to give back.
