CSM’s Connect to College event on Thursday, May 4, was a resounding success, attracting over 300 attendees, including members from the local community and their families! The event was valuable for individuals interested in exploring the college’s numerous academic programs and student support services, including the college’s Free College enrollment fee waiver for qualifying San Mateo County residents. 

High school students of all sexualities and gender identities from across the county were welcomed to the dance at the College of San Mateo’s College Center. As of the Thursday before, more than 250 students had registered.

Students from CSM Professor Richard Lohmann’s photography class had a unique opportunity to showcase their work in a prominent San Francisco gallery in February. The “Convergence” exhibit opened on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Canessa Gallery in San Francisco. The opening reception was followed two weeks later by an evening of engaging presentations by the student artists.

The afternoon of Friday, January 27, 2023, was full of buzz and excitement on the College of San Mateo campus during the College’s inaugural Back to School Block Party! Over 50 academic programs, student services, and community organizations had tables at the event in front of College Center to share information and engage with nearly 500 attendees.

The weeklong event at CSM is an extension of the annual Family Science Day that features several new planetary programs geared toward science demonstrations for children to introduce them to science uniquely and tangibly beyond just reading.

CSM’s annual Family Science Day returned in late September for its second year in a virtual format, drawing hundreds of science fans of all ages. Spearheaded by Physics Professor Mohsen Janatpour, the event was made possible by the dedicated efforts of many CSM faculty, staff, students, administrators, and community members.

CSM’s Erin Persley worked on a film that will premiere at the Cinequest Film Festival in March.

The Associated Students of College of San Mateo invites you to a Town Hall with the candidates for State Senate, District 13. CSM alumnus Jerry Hill has served as our State Senator since 2012, and will retire this year. Five of the candidates for his seat will be on campus on February 6 to share their views.

CSM Career Services and other offices are hosting a variety of career-related events from October to December.  All are designed to help our students and community promote career awareness and exploration and find their WHY.

CSM Undocu-Week closes with a keynote and poetry reading by the Afro-Indigenous poet, activist, scholar and artist Alan Pelaez Lopez.
