Sammy Pacheco went 3-for-3 and keyed a six-run fourth inning with a three-run home run to lead the College of San Mateo softball team earn a 14-8 victory over rival Foothill College. Pacheco also walked, scored four runs and drove in four.

Foothill got all of its runs in the second inning.

It was the second-highest run total of the season for the Bulldogs, who sit atop the Coast Conference at 12-2 and are 24-9 overall.

Meanwhile, the CSM baseball team won its eight in a row and avenged a loss in last season’s state title game with a 2-0 win over visiting Ohlone. The Bulldogs continue to share first place with Chabot in the Coast Golden Gate division at 14-2.

Starting pitcher Devin Bradley (4-1) avenged his only defeat of the season, working 6 1/3 innings, striking out four and walking one.

Justin Maffei singled to right to lead off the fifth inning, advanced to second on Michael Kathan’s single to left, and reached third on a double play. Maffei scored on a wild pitch.

The Bulldogs got an insurance run in the eighth when Riley Goulding doubled home Mark Hurley, who had led off with a walk and stolen two bases.
