More than 100 CSM students had the opportunity to hear the former Prime Minister of Australia speak on campus. The Honorable Kevin Rudd, who served as Prime Minister of Australia from 2007-2010 and again in 2013, spoke in the CSM Theatre on September 13 about U.S.-China relations.

Mr. Rudd served as Australia’s 26th Prime Minister (2007-2010, 2013) and as Foreign Minister (2010-2012). He led Australia’s response during the global financial crisis, reviewed by the IMF as the most effective stimulus strategy of all member states.

He is a Distinguished Fellow at Chatham House in London, a Distinguished Statesman with the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, and a Distinguished Fellow at the Paulson Institute in Chicago.

The event was sponsored by the Asia Society of Northern California. It is believed to be the first time a former head of state has visited the College of San Mateo campus.
