On Sunday, October 8, the baseball field was filled with smiles as the CSM baseball team took to the pitch, not for their regular game but for a special event with The Miracle League of San Francisco Peninsula. Under the leadership of their new head coach, Riley Goulding, the Bulldogs partnered with this local organization to spend quality time with disabled ball players of all ages to share the love of baseball.

The day began with energizing warm-ups, where Bulldogs players assisted the Miracle League participants in stretches, jogging, and other preparatory exercises. An exciting and heartwarming game followed. It wasn’t about the score but the mutual respect and camaraderie that flowed seamlessly between the players.

CSM’s Baseball team is making a tradition of volunteering with The Miracle League of San Francisco Peninsula as part of the organization’s yearly programming. The collaboration is thanks to the father of Joe Biagini, a former Bulldog and MBL star, Rob Biagini, who has volunteered with the organization for some time.

Coach Riley Goulding emphasized the event’s significance. “This was a tremendous experience for our players. I am proud of the selflessness they showed on a Sunday afternoon to give back to the community through The Miracle League,” Goulding remarked. “The Miracle League is an amazing organization that allows EVERYONE to play the great game of baseball! Go Dawgs!”

Such collaborations showcase the beautiful merger of community and sports. While the game of baseball was the centerpiece, it was the spirit of unity, teamwork, and genuine happiness that stole the show.

“What Coach Goulding, Coach Williams, and the CSM baseball team reinforced was our commitment to the four pillars in which our CSM athletic programs stand: Academic Success, Athletic Success, Community Outreach, and Personal Development,” Shared Andreas Wolf, CSM’s Dean of Kinesiology, Athletics, and Dance. He adds, “I commend the team’s commitment to these pillars and their partnership with the Miracle League.”

The CSM Bulldogs, with their new leader and a reinforced sense of purpose, are not just gearing up for an exciting season on the field but also off it.
