CSM recently completed its annual survey of satisfaction levels of its students, faculty and staff. Once again, results are overwhelmingly positive: satisfaction levels range from 84 percent – 100 percent for students, staff, and faculty and administrators.

College of San Mateo is pleased to announce Paul Hankamp as the first Distance Education (DE) Coordinator for the institution. Paul has been a biology faculty member at CSM since 2011. In addition to traditional lecture and lab courses, he teaches web-assisted and fully online courses.

President Claire welcomed the attendees and stated that housing is major concern for students, faculty and staff. Don Horsley, San Mateo County Board President, opened the program, and an introduction was done by Michael Lane, HLC Board President, followed by a keynote address by Steven Sust, Child Psychiatry Co-Chief Fellow at Stanford.

Roach completed a fellowship at Stanford Global Studies in June 2016. The fellowship allowed her the opportunity to reenvision her introduction to research course so that it reflects the global nature of the information ecosystem and acknowledges the inequity within it.

The makerspace at CSM hosted a Salsa and Merengue workshop—a student led session on “making” dance. The space itself has the 3D printers, of course, and the Arduinos, but no technicians or dedicated classrooms.

Mike Galisatus leads a double life. By day, he’s Director of Bands at the College of San Mateo. By night, he’s an esteemed jazz trumpeter. He leads the Mike Galisatus Big Band, which plays Angelica’s in Redwood City on Sunday.
