On September 14, College of San Mateo will honor nine decades of its athletic legacy when it inducts 16 new members into the Athletics Hall of Fame. The distinguished list of 2012 inductees represents a wide range of success and eras over the past ninety years.

A year after inducting 15 members into its inaugural Hall of Fame Class, CSM announced 16 new faces whose names will be added onto the Hall of Fame monument come September 14.

Olympic gold medalist Stephanie Brown Trafton won the final big showdown of top American women discus throwers at USA Track & Field’s Pacific championships at College of San Mateo.

Evan McDaniel placed seventh in the men’s discus throw for College of San Mateo’s top performance on the first day of the California Community College Athletic Association Track and Field Championships at Cerritos College in Norwalk.

Elite community college athletes representing 60 schools from a swath of the state stretching from Kern County to near the Oregon border will descend upon College of San Mateo later this week for arguably one of the most significant collections of events in Northern California community college sports history.

The Northern California Community College Track and Field Trials kick off a weekend of championship competition at CSM.

The College of San Mateo athletic teams will not play at another Northern California location this season. They can thank their winning ways for that. All of their remaining competition prior to any participation in the state championships will be at home, making for a busy first two weekends of May at their hilltop campus.

College of San Mateo thrower Nikki Uikilifi took advantage of competing with an Olympic champion to produce the No. 3 women’s discus throw by a California Community College athlete this season at CSM’s Lucky 13 Invitational on Friday at College Heights Stadium.

The College of San Mateo is inducting its first class into the school’s athletic hall of fame, led by Oakland Raiders legend John Madden.
